Autoimmune Awareness Hop 27th March - 1st April
Hey Crafty Friends,
Thanks for stopping by today, today's blog is close to my heart. I am participating in the Autoimmune Awareness Hop over on Instagram. Unfortunately I never got to meet my mother in law, she passed away when my husband was much younger from a Autoimmune Disease called Lupus. For more information on this condition please visit the Lupus charity UK site here. I'm participating in this hop in memory of her and also as support for my husband's aunty, his mum's sister who is fighting this same disease every day. She struggles but the strength and resilience she shows is admiring.
Please visit all the amazing crafters who have joined together for this awareness hop over on Instagram, hop along, follow each person and comment on each post to be in with a chance to win some amazing prizes from our sponsors. Start the hop HERE! You have from now until 1st April 11:59 EST.
If you have got this far please keep scrolling and reading, the amazing Amy from Crafty Purple Frog drew me these designs especially for this awareness hop. The Butterflies are the symbol of Lupus Charity and they are so beautiful you can't help but smile. Amy very generously is offering these designs out to everyone who participates in the hop as a digi image. You will be able to save the image from this post directly. Please all we ask is that you don't share it around and instead direct people to this post to download directly for themselves.
Now onto my inspiration! I couldn't resist 2 cards for the hop, one in memory of my mother in law and one for my husbands Aunty. Purple being the colour of support for Lupus too I had to incorporate this into the designs.
For the first card I coloured the butterfly in greens and purples with a little pink to give a multi coloured affect and blend. I took a stencil and heat embossed the background, bottom half from one colour and top half from another (full list of supplies at the end of my post) To finish up I used stitched alphabet dies to write out Hugs on the front of the card and added some nuvo drops for additional dimension.
For my second card I coloured up the butterfly in similar purples and greens, I printed the sentiment from my computer and stenciled around this using distress inks. So that the butterfly doesn't get lost in such a busy background I took a stitched heart die and used clear sparkle embossing powder on a blue card stock to sit behind and add a little something special. I added nuvo drops here too, I just can't stop playing with them!
This post is a little different to how I would usually type them up for you but I wanted the main information to be about awareness of autoimmune diseases. Now hop on over to Instagram and hop along!
Until next time, happy crafting!
