There's Gnome place like home!
Hi Crafty friends! I'm back today to share with you a card made for a work colleague who just bought a new house!
I struggled for a while to decide on what to create for this card however Time for Tea Designs has just had a new release which includes a fabulous Windmill die set which I knew matched some of my existing stamp sets so would be just perfect. As always all product links can be found at the end of my post 😊
I decided to use partial of the windmill to create a house look. I already had in mind that I would be using Gnomes for this card so I needed to create a toadstool house to be the centre focus. There are many great die sets out there on the market that do just that already for you however I wanted to show you how versatile this Windmill Die set can be. I started by die cutting the main section with the door and the roof on alcohol friendly cardstock. The reason I chose to do this is so I could colour it up how I wanted however this could work with coloured cardstock too for a quick assemble. I cut a small round circle for a window, 2 arched window shapes and the chimney pieces from the same die set!
You could use the small circle dies in the set to cut holes in the roof however I've used a black Memento pen to outline circles in the roof to resemble a toadstool.
Colour combination used are all Spectrum Noir tri blends:
Main house + Chimney - Gold Brown blend
Roof - Dark Red blend
Door - Red Brown blend
Windows - Citrus blend
I drew the lines on the small window pieces using the black memento ink pen.
Next I stamped a little gnome from the Lawn Fawn Oh Gnome stamp set along with some of the smaller flowers which I will use later on for extra decoration. Now I needed to work on my background, I used Heffy doodle grassy border dies and silver linings cloud dies to cut grass and clouds for my background. Using Peacock feathers distress ink with a Time for Tea Designs blending brush I gave the tip of the clouds some colour by brushing along the edge and also added some peacock feathers ink to the main card panel to give a blue sky look.
Once I laid all my pieces on the card panel there was an area either side of the toadstool that I felt needed filling so I pulled out the Heffy Doodle Who Let The Dogs Out stamp set that includes a nice picket fence, I stamped 2, one to go either side of the toadstool. I also spotted in this stamp set a really small dog, my colleague I know is a dog lover just like me so I stamped him up too.
Dog colour combination - Red Brown blend with a Purple blend collar to match the gnome!
I took the sentiment from the same Oh Gnome stamp set, using my Mini Misti I stamped the sentiment with Love Letter Memento ink. Lastly I added a sun from the Sun, Stars & Moon die set by Heffy Doodle.
Now you may or may not have noticed a mistake I made in my first image when I stuck the circle window down I got the lines the wrong way, whoops! To sort this I just die cut another circle and stuck on top 😉
What's your favourite part of this card? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below 😊
