Spread your wings

Hey Crafty Friends,

Today I'm sharing a card inspired by the walks we take with our dog down the river, often in the evenings when the sun is setting, there are some beautiful swans around here although they tend to hiss at Belle, maybe its because she is all white too!

Starting with 2 panels cut from stitched rectangle dies and put one aside, taking a wave die from my stash and cut the first panel down to create a river look. Using a beautiful blending brush with Mustard Seed distress ink, use the river panel as a guide and blend in a faint line across the back panel, from here blend out in a circular motion to create a sun and blend out with Blueprint Sketch for an early evening scene. Using a round foam blending tool to bring in some picked raspberry ink, there is usually pink sky around on our evening walks. I've started my panels in a blue cardstock for less blending needed!

Now take your river panel and blend down from the centre with the mustard seed to create  a sun shadow. To give the water some texture I speckled on Blueprint Sketch by reacting a small amount of ink with water and picking it up with a paintbrush. To match the sky I also bought it a little of the pink ink again to create the shadow look.

Next up stamp the desired images, using Spread your Wings I stamped up the swan and foliage on alcohol marker friendly cardstock and coloured using Triblends. Swans here are typically white so I just added a small amount of shading, I also snipped off the bottom part of the image as it will not be on show.

Taking 2 sentiments from the same stamp set and used my MISTI to stamp them up in black Memento Ink.

I love how this came out, it didn't take much effort but has a great look don't you think! Do you use real scenario's for card inspiration? I'd love to hear from you in the comments.

Until next time, Happy Crafting!
