Splat, Zonk, Boom!

Hey Crafty Friends,

I'm sharing brought and cheerful superhero card today using the latest Scrappy Boy Stamps release.

I've used some of the fun word sentiments in my design however you will notice I've left an area rather blank. This is so I can add an extra sentiment at a later date for when I find a need for this card! Do you ever leave cards without a main sentiment on in your stash so you can add one later? This is a great way to build up your stash without knowing what you might need it for!

We're going to do a little creative masking today using Memo Tape. This is a low tack tape that you can use and remove from projects easily without tearing your paper or card stock. You can use anything with a straight edge like printer paper to get the same affect as me today, anything that can be adhered temporarily, removed and moved around will work!

Firstly I took a stitched rectangle panel from bright white card stock and stamped the 3 words a little randomly around the top of my page, using my chosen image as a guide to where I'd place them. Take some memo tape or masking paper and stamp the same words onto this too, with a pencil draw a rough splatter around the words and fussy cut them out using scissors. Place these over your stamped words to create masks.

Now take some longer strips of memo tape and firstly place one piece diagonally in the vertical view and take another piece and place this horizontally as you see above, we've now created our first square. Using candied apple to ink blend over the whole area first, then use a dot stencil straight over the top with fired brick for a tone on tone look.

Now remove just the horizontal mask strip and move this up using the line you created with with red as the guide to line it up correctly again, now you have the bottom left area perfectly masked. Cover the area in squeezed lemonade ink and using the same dot stencil over top with mustard seed.

Repeat the steps by removing both horizontal and vertical masks and move them over to expose the right hand side areas. Top right mermaid lagoon with blueprint sketch on top. Bottom right twisted citron with mowed lawn.

You can now remove all your masks including the splatter ones you made over the words.

Colour your words, I'm using copics, even though my main panel isn't alcohol marker friendly card stock the areas are so small this card stock has enough give to allow you to blend together small areas quickly and still get a nice blended look.

Colour combo: YG09, YG06, YG03. Y17, Y15, Y13. R37, R35, R32.

Lastly I stamped my image on alcohol marker friendly card stock and coloured using copics.

Colour combo: C9, C7, C5, C3, C1.

I hope you have enjoyed today's inspiration and know that you don't always need a special stencil or dies to get a cool affect with products you might already have in your stash!

Until next time, happy crafting!
