I'm nuts about you!

Hey Crafty Friends,

Today I'm sharing another project using a die set by Time for Tea Designs, as always you will be able to find all product links at the end of my post 😊

This project I am using the windmill builder die set alongside woodland critters also by T4TD, although I wont be building a windmill today with this set I am showing you another versatile way to use this die. Previously I turned it into a mushroom toadstool house, you can find my blog on that here.

Now for today's project I am turning the windmill builder die into an acorn house to accompany the squirrel in the woodland critters stamp set. (Click any image to view larger)

Starting with the die cut pieces from PaintON cardstock which is my go to for ink blending. Once I had the pieces cut out I used distress inks to give them some colour, wild honey for the main piece and gathered twig for the door and roof, added a little around the edge of the house too for extra dimension.

Next I printed the squirrel, several leaves, couple of trees and mini acorns using my MISTI colouring them with a variety of older Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and Tri-Blends. The squirrel colour wasnt quite what I was hoping for however will go with it! 

Colour combination:

Trees + Leaves - Red Brown blend with DR6,OR2, JG1, AG2 + BO4

Acorns - Red Brown and Gold Brown blends 

Squirrel - Brown Grey blend

Next up was the background for my scene, keeping the Autumn theme using distress inks I blended a sky with Crackling Campfire, Candied Apple and Blueprint Sketch. Added a little wild honey and gathered twig for the woodland at the bottom, I didnt add any ink to my blending brush just used what was left! 

Using Heffy Doodle stitched rectangle dies to cut my panel for the front of the card.

It's time to assemble all the pieces and add a sentiment, I used the sentiment from the Woodland critters stamp set 'I'm nuts about you'

April Challenge - MyBesties

Hey Crafty Friends, It's a new month so that means the start of a new challenge over on the Colour it, Create it, Show it off challenge blog, as always our challenge is anything goes, that's any image, any project. Why not grab you favourite set and join us  here. If you would like to treat yourself to a new image you can find all the MyBesties images  here. This will be a shorter post again today, it's a very simple card. I coloured the image in Spectrum Noir alcohol markers and fussy cut around her. Taking a card blank and used Kitsch flamingo distress ink to bring down some colour to about a quarter down the panel and fade out into the white to give a very soft look and feel. Using some trees branches, flowers and leaves from a couple sets in my stash and a birthday sentiment to top this off and bring it all together.  I cant wait to see what you come up with for the challenge! Swan Galaxy - Interactive card!

Hey Crafty Friends, Welcome back, I'm sharing my usual design team post for Crafty Purple Frog a few days early because I am so impatient and love this card so much that I wanted to share with you all at the earliest opportunity!  Today's card is very fitting, I usually make a card with someone in mind or themed around something I've seen. My idea for this came as soon as I saw the set 'Spread your wings' This beautiful swan has big regal wings that meant it deserved the opportunity to fly! To start up I took a scalloped slimline frame die and inked up a galaxy type background, now the thing to remember with creating a galaxy background is it might look like a hot mess to start with! A galaxy background can use any colours you feel are fitting, I'm using Wilted Violet, Mermaid Lagoon and Candied Apple. You can put some greens and pinks in too if you would like.  Take a blending tool, I'm using a blending brush and bring in random sections of colour using you
